Be a Bucket Filler

We have been talking about ways to be kind to others and how to make other people feel good. We read the story, "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" After reading this story, we learned how to become bucket fillers. We learned that everyone carries around an invisible bucket and all day long you are either a bucket filler or a bucket dipper. Bucket fillers make other people feel good about themselves, and it also makes you feel good about yourself when you fill another person's bucket. But a bucket dipper makes others feel bad and it takes away from your bucket too. So, at the end of the day, you should ask yourself, "Have I filled a bucket today?" Here are some pictures of our Quest students filling some buckets. Just look at those smiles!!!

Amazing Animals

2nd grade Quest is loving our "Zoo Land" unit about animals and their habitats. We have been studying all about the different species, their classifications, conservation status,  diets, habitats, unique characteristics, and much more. In this particular activity, students are using photicular books to learn more about rare and some endangered animals.

Garden News

We are ready to plant our spring garden and have a special guest, Dr. Eddie Smith, to help us get it going. This spring we are planting tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, bell peppers, and several different herbs. Our herbs are mint, rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme, and parsley. We are super excited about caring and tending to it, so that we will have lots of fresh veggies to enjoy together.

Inventions

We had a blast creating our own cotton blossom scented slime. The students researched the best ways to make slime and we brought in the ingredients to make our own slime. We had a blast working on this and most of all being able to play with it afterwards.
